Clear writing = clear thinking. No matter what kind of writing you do, you’ll need a basic skill set. Our writing workshops are developed with your needs in mind. If you want to immerse yourself in grammar and punctuation, understand how to brainstorm and document ideas, learn how to persuade others, hone and refine your writing skills, or learn how to write efficiently, we have the course for you.

Learning to Write More Clearly, Concisely, Convincingly, and Confidently: 2-4 hours
This writing course covers everything you need to create well-written documents: grammar, punctuation, and word choice plus free-writing, organizing content, and formatting a well-written document. Learn how to use writing as a tool for organizing your thoughts, documenting important events, and teaching others. Learn how to pull together thoughtful and error-free letters, emails, social media posts, and other short documents in record time. Bring your own documents and use the Top 10 Steps for Editing Your Own Work to proof them and ask the instructor for personalized tips.
Writing for Excellence: 2-4 hours
Take your writing skills to the next level by learning to successfully create and manage varied writing projects including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, emails, letters, grant proposals, and newsletters. Learn to build credibility and support for your ideas through persuasive words, repetition, transition, and parallel construction. Identify the most common problems in grammar, punctuation, and word usage. Learn how to edit your own work and identify venues for publication including peer review journals, print media, alumni newsletters, websites, or social media.
Writing for Business: 2-4 hours
This down and dirty business writing course will teach you all the things you need to know to write effective business documents. You’ll learn common grammar, punctuation, and writing errors, so that your documents are sharp and professional. You’ll also learn formatting and writing techniques for emails, letters, proposals, business plans, and reports. At the end of this seminar, you’ll be able to build credibility and support for your ideas by writing clearly and persuasively. We encourage you to bring any important writing projects as you will learn to refine and edit your own work.
Writing for Diverse Audiences: 2-4 hours
No matter what your profession, there are many times when you’ll need to explain your ideas to people outside of your area of expertise: to gain funding, encourage buy-in, or influence decisions. This course is designed to help you write for different audiences by teaching you how to identifying your reader, select the most important content, and explain complex concepts in uncomplicated terms. Learn to write persuasively by understanding how to select appropriate words, create meaningful transitions, and offer relevant examples.
